Did you ever hear the one about when a guitar shop owner – who also happens to be a licensed airplane pilot – flew Slash and Duff McKagan to their Guns N’ Roses concert in Boston? Or the one where Wonder Mike, from the Sugarhill Gang, likes to come in, buy gear, and say “Hello”?

You’ll get the details of these stories – and more – from Jeff Frohman, the owner of Murphy’s Music in Melville, New York.

Since Bob Murphy opened Murphy’s in 1984, it’s been Long Island's most trusted source for musical instrument sales, service, rentals and lessons. Jeff started working there in 1991, and in 2001, when Bob expanded to the space next door, he told Jeff, “Someday you’re gonna own this place,” and in 2007, Jeff became the new owner. (You’ll still see Bob, now happily running Bob Murphy’s Violin Shop with his son Robert in the same space.)

Murphy’s is proud to sell GNL, Dean, Washburn, Martin, Breedlove, Goldtone, Martin, and others; build custom pedal boards; and have one of the best repair shops. They’re a Martin-authorized guitar service center, and they’re well known for their lightning fast amp repair (a 48-hour turn around time!).

The shop also offers lessons in a wide range of instruments, and have teachers who specialize in banjo and mandolin.

Jeff knows their best customers are well-educated ones (he & the shop’s manager Jordan have 80 years of experience between them). He guarantees that when you visit Murphy’s, you’ll know more than when you walked in!
