FEATURED SHOP OF THE MONTH
Klangfarbe is Austria’s largest music retailer. Located in one of Vienna’s historic Gasometers (tanks built in 1899 that stored gas for the town and were ultimately converted for commercial and residential use in 1995), the shop carries a wide range of instruments, so there’s something for every musician, at any level and price range!
In the 1980s, Austria’s music scene was booming, but there were no experienced sellers offering quality equipment.
The founders of Klangfarbe were all active musicians, and were also adversely affected by the lack of music shops, so, in 1985, they set up shop in an old factory in Einsiedlerplatz 5 with a focus on expert advice, great service and a personal, friendly relationship with customers. They quickly became Vienna's go-to (and coolest) music shop!
In 2010, they moved to the larger, more easily accessible Gasometer building, which now houses over 800 stringed instruments, including Chapman, Eastman, Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, Hagstrom, Ibanez, LTD, Maybach, PRS, Squire, Suhr, and many others!
In addition to having a vast inventory, the team at Klangfarbe has extensive knowledge about equipment, service, and craftsmanship, and are well-versed in the construction, adaptation and repair of all equipment necessary for any level of musicians and performer. And they also have a home stage that features product demos, workshops and small concerts.
