FEATURED SHOP OF THE MONTH
215 North Cayuga Street
Ithaca, New York 14850
The history of Ithaca Guitar Works in upstate New York goes back over 50 years, when the store was opened by the late John Ellis and originally called The Guitar Work Shop. In 1978, Paul and Annie Meisenzahl purchased the shop from Ellis and renamed it Ithaca Guitar Works. Then, just a few years later, in 1981, Chris Broadwell and Eric Aceto purchased the store from the Meisenzahls, and by 1996, Aceto left to open Ithaca Stringed Instruments, leaving Ithaca Guitar Works to Broadwell.
For over 20 years, Chris Broadwell (who was a member of Ithaca’s popular Peabody Band in the 1970s) has been the proprietor of Ithaca Guitar Works and has since made running the shop a family affair. His wife Heather is the bookkeeper, and their two sons Ashley and Rylan specialize in sales, instrument adjustments, custom modifications, restoration, and even teach lessons.
Located in the historic Dewitt Mall in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of New York, the shop has a vast selection of acoustic and electric guitars, including Fender, Martin, Taylor, Guild, Deering, Gretsch, National, Gold Tone, Alvarez, Cordoba, Eastman, Gretsch, Squier, Supro, and many others. With almost 1,000 new, used, and vintage instruments and amps in stock, there’s something for every level of guitar player!
