Ben & Bucky's Guitar Boutique in South Burlington, VT, is the collaboration between Adam Buchwald and Benjamin MacIntyre. Buchwald, a renowned luthier and maker of Circle Strings and Iris Guitars, sought to showcase his craft in a showroom adjacent to his workshop. MacIntyre, a guitar collector, envisioned a space to display his vintage finds. And in 2022, the duo joined forces to create a haven for guitar enthusiasts.
The shop boasts rare finds and custom-made guitars from D'Angelico, Supro, and Harmony, as well as originals from Circle String and Iris. MacIntyre's extensive collection forms the backbone of the store's offerings, ensuring a diverse selection for enthusiasts to explore.
Buchwald honed his craft in music studies at UVM, apprenticed under renowned guitar repairman Bob Jones in NYC, and perfected his skills at Vermont Instruments. His dedication to quality and craftsmanship reflects Burlington's vibrant music scene, where handmade products are cherished for their artisanal value.
With its fusion of vintage allure, bespoke craftsmanship, and top-notch repair services, Ben & Bucky's Guitar Boutique stands as a testament to Burlington's musical spirit and creative community.
FUN FACT: Buchwald custom made an acoustic guitar for Trey Anastasio from Phish (a birthday gift commissioned by keyboardist Page McConnell). The guitar played a pivotal role in Anastasio's solo project, "Mercy," and when he played it at The Beacon Theatre in NYC, he told the crowd it was the best guitar he has ever played in his life!
